Alter ‘pending jobs’ option to be per ‘payment plan’

In the same way as the ‘featured job’ option is held against the payment plan, I strongly think that the ‘pending’ option should also be held there, rather than at site level – and here’s why.

When starting a job board it really helps to offer free job posting. Usually people who pay for their listing get a ‘featured’ listing. I don’t really like that separation. However, I saw a really innovative solution on a job board the other day. Paid-for job ads are made live immediately on the site, so never enter a ‘pending’ phase. Free job ads, however, are put live after perhaps 3 or 4 days – whenever the site owner likes. It’s a great way to encourage payment of jobs – because recruitment is usually urgent – but also, it doesn’t penalise the free ads because there is no way to tell them apart in the listings. You could of course also offer featured listings on either plan as required. It might also be useful for other purposes to have some jobs go live immediately while others are manually vetted while they are pending.

What do you think about this idea, I personally think it would be a great addition to jobEngine especially for people just starting their job board.
